Position: Lab Quality Technician

Pay Rate: $17.00/hour


Position Summary:

The Quality Lab Technician plays a key role in supporting high-yield, efficient production by analyzing and reporting production data, conducting inspections, and collaborating cross-functionally to resolve issues and improve processes. This role requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.

Essential Job Function

Key Responsibilities:

Quality & Production Support

  • Monitor and optimize quality inspection schedules to support efficient production processes.
  • Deliver in-depth training and coaching to team members on inspection procedures and quality standards to enhance their competencies.
  • Provide performance feedback and resolve team members' issues.
  • Ensure quality metrics (KPIs) are met and reported accurately.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve processes and maintain compliance with safety and quality policies.

Inspection & Testing

  • Conduct inspections using measurement tools (e.g., calipers, lab equipment).
  • Record inspection results in MES or QMS systems.
  • Conduct Gage R&R (MSA) studies to prepare for inspections effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications for raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.

Equipment & Supplies Management

  • Maintain and monitor inspection tools and lab equipment.
  • Report and document equipment malfunctions.
  • Update and maintain equipment operation manuals.
  • Manage inventory of inspection supplies and optimize material use.

Safety & Work Environment

  • Adhere to 5S and 3R standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain / Right Material, Right Quantity, Right Place) to maintain an organized and efficient work environment.
  • Participate in Safety, Health, and Environment (S.H.E.) programs.
  • Promote safety awareness through regular training.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification is a must for this role
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of hands-on quality/lab experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Familiarity with inspection systems, tools, and measurement systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts
  • Preferred: Experience in high-volume manufacturing, especially automotive or electronics; knowledge of LEAN, SPC, Six Sigma, MES/QMS systems

 

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs and safely perform job functions (standing, walking, bending, stair climbing)
  • PPE required depending on work area: uniforms, gloves, gas masks, helmets, safety glasses, respirators, and flame-resistant gear
  • Work occurs primarily in clean, dry production areas, but may involve noise, high temperatures (104–122°F), and exposure to chemicals
  • May require use of cutting tools and gas masks for product disassembly
