Summary of Responsibilities

Stratosphere Quality is seeking an experienced Quality Technician to support our customers in the San Jose market. This contract role offers a dynamic opportunity to apply your quality inspection skills in a variety of manufacturing environments. You'll serve as the on-site expert, inspecting parts to blueprint specs, ensuring GD&T standards are met, and acting as a liaison between Stratosphere and our clients.


Job Title: Quality Technician (Contract)
Location: San Jose, CA
Pay: $30–$35 per hour
Schedule: Day Shift
Duration: 3-Month Contract
Travel: Required – Local travel to approximately 2 customer sites per day (mileage reimbursed)


 

Essential Job Function

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to approximately 2 customer locations per day within a local territory of 45+ clients

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections of parts using gauges, tools, and measurement equipment

  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings

  • Apply knowledge of GD&T and PPAP procedures to ensure parts meet specifications

  • Collect and record flat measurement data and other quality metrics

  • Communicate effectively with customer contacts to address quality concerns

  • Work independently to represent Stratosphere Quality with professionalism and accuracy

  • Document findings and complete required reports in a timely manner

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required

  • Must be located in the San Jose market and available for daily, local travel

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in quality inspection, tool shop, or manufacturing environment

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, including detailed understanding of GD&T symbols

  • Experience completing a Customer First Article Checklist, with the ability to verify vendor inspections against engineering requirements

  • Comfortable performing on-site audits using prints, parts, and gauges, validating that parts meet customer specifications

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in fast-paced, production-focused environments

  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills—able to clearly report findings against checklists to Xometry and provide weekly updates on time spent and site visits

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation  (mileage reimbursed)

Additional Details:

  • This is a 3-month contract position to start, with the potential to extend into a longer-term engagement based on performance and business needs

  • Must be able to travel locally to approximately 2 customer sites per day across a defined territory
